LJW: KDOT to host virtual and in-person public hearings on proposed layout of SLT expansion

The Kansas Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration will host both in-person and virtual hearings, which will allow the public to provide input on the proposed route and the draft study, according to a KDOT news release. KDOT and the FHA evaluated several alternatives for the SLT expansion and determined in September that an open-access highway best meets the purpose and need for the corridor. Other options, including a partially tolled expressway were also considered.

KDOT Press Release: Improvements on K-10 in Lawrence to begin July 6 June 30, 2020 An intersection improvement project at the 27th Street/Wakarusa Avenue intersection on K10 in Lawrence is expected to begin, Monday, July 6, weather permitting. Also, a mill and overlay project on K-10 is expected to begin mid-August or early September. Work will occur in two phases and is expected to be complete in mid-October. South Lawrence Trafficway open house May 1

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are hosting the second public information meeting for the South Lawrence Trafficway (SLT) project on Wednesday, May 1. The public is invited to attend the open house style meeting anytime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Southwest Middle School, 2511 Inverness Drive, in Lawrence.

It has nothing to do with the play on the soccer, baseball and football fields at the complex. Rather, the dangers come from motorists — and occasional pedestrians — trying to enter and leave the facility via the South Lawrence Trafficway.
